A Plumbing Program that Prepares You for a Career

Moore Tech works closely with the Memphis Area Plumbers Association to ensure that our Plumbing program prepares students for entry into the trade. Our program has been reviewed and approved as acceptable for one year of credit toward the required three-year Registered Apprenticeship with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development. Graduates who complete this program will receive this credit, and apply it toward their apprenticeship requirements. Click here to view the Certificate of Credit Approval.

Plumbing is a one-year certificate program that consists of three courses taught at night. Students complete PM113-C Property Maintenance Plumbing Repair, PM114-C Commercial Plumbing Fixtures, Water Heating Systems, and Fuel Gas Applications, and PM115-C Drain, Waste, Vent, Potable Water Distribution, Materials & Design. 

 

The Plumbing Certificate Program is designed to prepare students for a career in the plumbing trade. Each of the three Plumbing Certificate Program courses combines hands-on lab work, lectures on plumbing design, ICC Plumbing & Gas Codes, soft skills, and safety. The Plumbing Certificate Program is designed to quickly increase a student’s plumbing knowledge and provide a foundation for their success in the plumbing trade.

PM113-C Property Maintenance – Plumbing Repair

This course covers basic residential plumbing systems and the use of various plumbing materials. Students will learn how to cut and join the various types of pipes and tubing found in a plumbing environment such as Copper, PEX, CPVC, and Black Iron Pipe. Repairing or replacing leaking or broken faucets, pipes, sinks, toilets, disposals, sink traps, drain, and hot water storage tanks.

 PM114-C Commercial Plumbing Fixtures, Water Heating Systems, and Fuel Gas Applications

This course focus is commercial plumbing fixtures, water heating systems, and fuel gas applications. Topics include but are not limited to, troubleshooting, removal, and installation of various commercial sinks, urinals, water closets, and both manual and automated flushing valves. Troubleshooting, removal, and installation of various water heating systems. Fuel gas distribution systems design, installation, chimneys, and vents.

 PM115-C Drain, Waste, Vent, Potable Water Distribution Materials & Design

This course aims to increase the student’s knowledge of Drain, Waste, and Vent systems, potable water distribution design & materials, joining pipes, backflow contamination protection, etc. Topics covered include but are not limited to sanitary drainage, vent systems, DWV materials, and drain cleaning machines.
